Mix writing inequalities with coloring to make inequalities practice more engaging!

In this inequalities activity with print and digital options, students write/find 20 inequalities to match situations and graphs. Then they find the inequalities on the coloring sheet/section and color with the given color.

**Students need to be careful to really watch their signs before they color:-)

Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included and to see how the Google Slides version works (students will need to know how to use the "Fill color" feature).

Grab this activity (plus 4 other popular color by number activities) and save >30% with the Grade 7 Math Color by Number mini-bundle!

Problems require students to:

  • Write an inequality given a word problem/situation
  • Write an inequality given the graph of the inequality

This easy-prep inequalities resource includes:

1) Two print versions:

Version A:

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions
  • Coloring sheet

Version B

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions (same types of questions as Version A)
  • Coloring sheet (less detailed)

2) One Google Slides version:

  • Same problems and same coloring as print Version A - problems and coloring are all on one slide
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the β€˜Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
  • Link to Google Slides is after the print items in the PDF download.

3) Two coloring pages with no numbers, so students can color for fun, create their own color by numbers, or for you to create your own color by number activities for your classes.

Write an inequality of the form 𝘹 > 𝘀 or 𝘹 < 𝘀 to represent a constraint or condition in a real-world or mathematical problem. Recognize that inequalities of the form 𝘹 > 𝘀 or 𝘹 < 𝘀 have infinitely many solutions; represent solutions of such inequalities on number line diagrams.
Solve word problems leading to inequalities of the form 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 > 𝘳 or 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 < 𝘳, where 𝘱, 𝘲, and 𝘳 are specific rational numbers. Graph the solution set of the inequality and interpret it in the context of the problem. For example: As a salesperson, you are paid $50 per week plus $3 per sale. This week you want your pay to be at least $100. Write an inequality for the number of sales you need to make, and describe the solutions.
