A complete 2-3 day friendly letter writing project perfect for fall leading into the Thanksgiving holiday or at the end of the school year as a reflection piece.

Students are asked to consider and define "gratitude." They then look at two non-fiction articles on how expressing gratitude can improve school morale and make students happier and healthier. Finally, the project culminates with students writing a letter of gratitude to an adult that has had a positive impact on their lives.

Project includes:
- Detailed Teacher's Guide
- Links to nonfiction articles
- Brainstorming worksheets
- Graphic organizers to assist with letter writing
- Checklists for conferencing about friendly letters
- Grading rubric
- Fall themed stationary

On a personal note - each year I do this assignment the teachers who receive letters contact me to let me know how touched and thrilled they were to get the messages from their former students. They often respond back to the students which is really exciting for them and a great way to show how powerful saying "Thank you." can be.

This is a powerful project and one I know you will come back to year after year.
